Amy Beth (Melville) Motta gained her angel wings on August 29, 2024. She was born and raised in Pembroke, MA where she lived with her father, Bradley, mother, Teresa, and sister, Tracy, and was raised with a very strong faith. Amy was a free-spirited child with a mind for creativity. With her endless rainbow doodles and artsy sketchbooks, her parents knew she was going to "paint" her mark on the world. Amy was also competitive in nature and developed a love for soccer. She was mighty and tough on the field. Growing up she was a tremendous role model for her sister, Tracy. At a young age, Tracy knew, not only did she have a great sister, but also a life-long best friend. The two shared so many wonderful times together and these memories will be cherished forever.
Amy attended Silver Lake High School in Pembroke. She met many friends there and continued to pursue her love of soccer. During high school, Amy received numerous, athletic awards and served as the team captain. She went on to play at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth where her dedication, hard work and leadership again earned her the role as team captain. Amy's advice to her fellow classmates in her yearbook was "CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES". She went on to play soccer for four years, while earning her bachelor's degree in Art Education at UMD. She celebrated good times with some of her closest friends.
Upon graduation in 1996, Amy's dream of becoming an art teacher came true. She was so excited to teach the young creative minds, which she did for 26 years, lastly at Pembroke High School. Amy was so proud of her students work and organized an annual art show. The halls would be beautifully decorated and the art work would be proudly displayed everywhere.
One of the happiest days in Amy's life was when she married the love of her life, Michael, in 2006. They had three extraordinary boys, Casey (17), Nicholas (15), and Benjamin (13). Amy was the best mother to her boys and taught them strong values of faith, family, and friendship. She coached many of their sport teams and has been their biggest cheerleader in life. She was gentle but tough, she was loving but firm. Each one of them was born with her beautiful smile and kind soul. The Motta boys are well grounded, driven, ambitious, adventurous, and amazing athletes.
Being an Auntie was one of Amy's favorite titles. Ryan was like her 4th son and Emily like the daughter she never had. Auntie's house was the "fun house" that hosted many celebrations. Fun times were shared apple picking, berry picking, swimming in Nana and Papa's pool, arts and crafts, video games, and playing sport games in the backyard. Together they shared many fun memories. She was the best Auntie ever.
Coaching was one of Amy's other favorite things. It did not matter the sport. She coached it all, from soccer, basketball, and lacrosse, to track and cross country. If there was a team that needed a coach, she stepped up. She coached for over 20 years and recently brought home the State Championship in soccer with her Norwell team. The many lives she touched in the classroom or on the field expands far and wide.
Our lives changed forever when Amy was diagnosed with cancer. Through her journey it was visible to see how important she was to her family, friends, and her community. We lovingly came together to rally around the Motta family. #Team Motta, #Melly Strong, #Mel's Positive Vibe Tribe, #Vassall Strong, #Amy's Army, #Teal Power Activate just to name a few. Her village was absolutely enormous. The many prayers, positive thoughts, visits, cards, and acts of kindness were amazing and demonstrated how much love everyone had for Amy.
Amy's life was marked by her care-free spirit and creative flare. Her life was painted in so many bright colors. Her love for life and adventure seeped out to all that knew her. With her vibrant personality, she left her mark on everyone she met. She had a warm smile that radiated everywhere. Her competitive edge and resilient attitude guided her on and off the field. She was tough, strong, fierce, and inspirational to us all.
It's your time, our sweet Amy,
Your amazing canvas is now done,
A beautiful work of art that will be forever admired and loved by everyone, A palette full of life and brush strokes soaked with color,
A masterpiece of your journey unlike any other,
Be proud of what you have created and the legacy you leave behind,
A canvas of God's blessings that is simply "ONE OF A KIND".
Amy had an infectious laugh, creative mind, and fun loving spirit. As we navigate through these difficult times ahead, may we keep her carefree, tigger spirit alive. I´m so saddened by the news of Mrs. Motta´s passing. I didn´t want to believe it could really be true. As a former student of hers, I have such fond memories of the wonderful times spent in her classroom that still make me smile to look back on. Her easygoing attitude, infectious laugh, brilliant smile, and passion for teaching are some of the many reasons why the art room was one of my favorite places to be throughout my years in high school. She did so much to make her classroom a warm and inclusive place, and she truly cared about making each and every student of hers feel welcome in it. I´ll always continue to express myself through art because of the impression Mrs. Motta left on me, and I´ll forever be immensely grateful for the courage she inspired within me to be my truest, most authentic self. My heartfelt condolences go out to her loved ones, and I´ll be keeping her family and friends in my thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time for them.

I know Amy as a child for we were neighbors. As a youngster, she was always smiling, very happy and love for arts and crafts. She always included the children in the neighborhood, it seems she did not want to leave anyone out
Ours paths crossed again , her children attended Hobomock Elementary where I was the School Nurse. She was a very caring parent, and I might add maintain that contagious warm smile of her youth.
My heart is saddened to hear of her passing . Gone from this world way too early. Hugs and prayers to her family

Something I will always remember about Ms. Motta is her carefree spirit. She was my art teacher from sophomore year all the way up to graduation, and beyond. She helped us destress, baked us cookies at school and held an Arts-Giving every thanksgiving for us. She made our class into a family and that is something no one can replicate. She was always there for us during the stressful times. Sometimes even sitting with her for 30 minutes during my free period would help me make it through the day. She even personally supplied all of her students art supplies when covid shut down and loved seeing us grow on our art journey. Ms. Motta is the best and most caring person I have ever met and truly touched many lives as an art teacher. I am grateful for being able to meet her and be taught by her as she is a blessing.

First time I layed eyes on this woman I knew she was something special. So full of color I couldn't believe it. She thanked me for befriending her mother Terry, I want to thank the lord for blessing me the opportunity to have met this beautiful angel!
