Amy Laurie Steinfeld, 77, of The Villages, FL, passed away on June 15, 2025. Amy was born in New York, New York on April 25, 1948, loved and raised by her mother, Sylvia (Fostoff) and stepfather Milton Schlanger. Amy valued education and insisted on going to college at a time when many women did not. She studied Education, and in 1969 she become a high school business teacher. 1969 was also the year Amy married her beloved husband Joel. She was a lifelong learner who went on for her Masters Degree and continued to repeatedly reinvent her professional career through the years, later becoming an elementary school computer teacher and then a media specialist. She was passionate, creative with her teaching styles and she touched the lives of so many students.
Amy was gregarious and affable, with many lifelong friends. She enjoyed spending her time in Florida with groups like The Villages Kibitzers and The Borscht Belt Club. She loved playing Mahjong with her friends, she played a solid game of tennis and she even dabbled in pickleball in later years. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she spent countless hours happily bonding with them through their adventures out, playing card games, reading stories and watching movies together. Amy was the toughest yet also the kindest and most gentle soul you could ever wish to meet. Her compassion was influential to those around her. She will be missed dearly and remembered fondly for her dedication to her family and friends, always wanting the best for those she loved and offering genuine and unconditional love and support.
Amy will be forever loved and cherished by her husband of over 55 years, Joel Steinfeld, her children; Stacy Snyder, David (Lori) Steinfeld and Jodi (Jeffrey) Gall, and eleven loving grandchildren: Jacob, Madeline, Ava, Isaac, Jonathan and Benjamin Snyder, Maya, Ryder and Tatum Steinfeld and Eliana and Reeve Gall, and a great grandchild, Bennett.
Donations in Amy's memory can be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, The Lewy Body Dementia Association or The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Carrying out an act of kindness toward another in any way you choose will also help her memory live on.

We will miss our friend and neighbor. It is with a smile that we recall our morning exercise classes, our Florida adventures, and just a luncheon and movie. We know Amy thrives in her new journey!

For years we all watched as Amy bravely fought her illness with dignity and grace, Joel, always at her side, devoted himself daily to her care. They both suffered but persevered as exemplary role models of the love and support couples experience in a marriage spanning over half a century. We will miss Amy very much.

Amy battled her illnesses with grace, courage and great dignity. We might see her walking gingerly in the neighborhood, head up and looking forward with determination to complete her chosen route. You can rest now, Amy, you´ve earned it. We will miss you, but you´ve completed your route. Our hearts go out to Joel and their family for their loss.

The values and moral strength that Joel and Amy brought to our neighborhood helped create a home of caring friends that seems rare in today's world. Thank you for touching our lives. We pray for God's blessings for Amy, Joel and their family.

Cousin Amy and I kind of lost touch the last few years. She was my first cousin and we spent a lot of time together growing up. She was a lovely person. Though she lived in New Jersey and I live in Pennsylvania, we would often meet halfway for lunch and share stories. Everyone in the family will surely miss her.
