Ana M. Martinez January 21, 1939 – November 7, 2025 Highland Falls, NY
Ana M. Martinez, 86, of Highland Falls, New York, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025.
Born on January 21, 1939, in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, to the late Sabina Lopez and Jesús Muiño, Ana spent her early years surrounded by the warmth of her island home. As a young woman, she bravely began a new chapter, moving first to New York City and then settling in Highland Falls in 1957. For nearly seven decades, she proudly called the Village her home, weaving herself into the very fabric of the community.
Ana was the devoted wife of Carlos B. Martinez and a loving mother who cherished every moment with her family. She was predeceased by her daughter Haydee Diaz, son Juan M. Sierra, brothers Raymond Muiño, José Muiño, Manuel Lopez, and sisters Josefa Soto and Manuela Castro.
She leaves behind a legacy of love in her daughter Ana I. Sierra; sons Jose L. Sierra and Carlos E. Martinez, all of Highland Falls; a very special sister-in-law who was more like a sister, Carmen D. Lopez; her sister Elba Espinal of New Jersey; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will miss her immensely.
Ana's greatest joy was cooking for everyone who walked through her door. Her kitchen was a place of gathering, laughter, and endless plates of food made with love. To be in Ana's home was to be family-no one ever left hungry or unloved. An avid NY Mets fan, she faithfully watched every game, cheering with the same passion she brought to everything she did.
She was a loving nurturing mother, grandmother, and friend to many who will miss her deeply.
She will be remembered for her open heart, her infectious warmth, and the way she made every person feel seen and cared for. Rest in peace, Mom. Your light will continue to shine in all who were blessed to know you.
In this time of sadness, Ana's family would like to acknowledge with sincere gratitude the outpouring of love and prayers we have received from friends and neighbors. A sincere thank you to Rev. Christopher Scott and the members of St. Marks Church.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 P.M. on Friday, November 14, 2025, at St. Mark's Baptist Church, 213 Main Street, Highland Falls, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at the church at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 15th, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in New Windsor, NY.
