ANCIL MYERS PORTER, JR., 76, beloved husband of the late Donna Burroughs Porter, passed away Sunday morning, June 11, 2023 in Anchor Post Acute Care of Aiken.
A native of Aiken, Myers was a son of the late Ancil Myers and Lucille Key Porter, Sr. He was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran. He formerly worked as a lab analyst at DSM and retired from Plant Vogtle. He was the former owner of Another Lawn Service in Augusta. Myers was an avid golfer and was a long-time season ticket holder of the Augusta GreenJackets Baseball and Augusta Lynx Hockey teams. He was also a diehard Carolina Gamecocks fan.
Survivors include two daughters, Annah Wall, Augusta, GA, Carmen Porter Oliver (Tom), Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Madeline Wall, Chloe Wall, Drew Wall, Sophie Maguire, Eva Oliver, Henry Oliver; great-granddaughter, Ellie Grace Thomas; two sisters, Sandra Widener, New Ellenton, SC, Ruth Martin (Kenneth), Aiken; his brother, John Porter (Kathy), Aiken, SC. In addition to his parents and wife, Myers was preceded in death by his son, Ancil Myers “Andy” Porter III.
The family will receive friends Thursday morning, June 15th beginning at 10 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11 o’clock with The Rev. Danny Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Parkinson’s Foundation (www.parkinson.org) .
The family would like to thank all the staff at Anchor Post Acute Care for their professional and compassionate care over the last several months.
