This was so hard for me to come to grips with. And took me a while to pull it together to share these words.. Andre was my best friend. The only best friend that I ever had in my life. I will never have another best friend like him. He was so smart. Very intelligent man always in the mood for a challenging conversation no matter what the topic was. Hard working. Kind. And the dedicated father...We spent a lot of time together, hanging out, having fun going places doing things. He was part of a group that I put together called The Village Crew. He was my DJ. We had so much fun back in the mid 80s growing up in Chicago. If we wasn't on the lakefront with a car full of girls and another car full of other friends and so forth. We were somewhere doing the party I was rapping and he was spending those records. We used to catch the bus downtown just to buy records and stuff like that. Catching the train going places going up over other people's house that we know other friends and stuff like that. Outside of our neighborhood... Those moments will live inside of me forever. We were so close. I knew his family and he knew mine. And even when I moved to Washington State in 94. Whenever I went back, we caught up with each other and hung out. I didn't get to see him for several years. And I wish I would have caught up with him before his time came. Hurts that I didn't. Life and the time that we have can teach us some very valuable important lessons. And the number one lesson is, not to take time for granted. Cuz I just knew when I went back home to visit I would reach out & catch up with him again. Now the ghost of regret haunts me every single day that I think about my friend. You will always be my best friend Andre. I learned a lot from you. And I'm very glad that I met you. And I will see you at the crosswords my friend.
