Andre P. St. Onge 1943-2015, Cape Coral Florida
Andre 'Andy' St. Onge of Cape Coral FL passed away suddenly on Tuesday October 20, 2015. Andy was Valiantly fighting cancer for the past four years but died when his heart could do no more. Andy was born in Putnam CT on February 26, 1943. Three days following the birth of his twin brother Albert. He was one of six children to Normand and Yvette ( Pepin) St. Onge also of Putnam CT. From an early age Andy had a love of automobiles-driving them and fixing them. Andy married his wife Suzanne Langlois on August 1, 1964. Shortly after their marriage , Andy was drafted into the U.S. Army and worked as a helicopter mechanic serving in Na Trang Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. Honorably discharged he returned home to work for George Lewis at Lewis Auto Body and later at Cargill Chevrolet where he developed a lifelong friendship with Dick & Claire Perrin and their son Frank. In 1977 he fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning and opening his own auto body business- Northeast Auto Body on Route 12 in Mechanicsville- That he successfully ran for more than 30 years. He also owned River's Edge Mini Golf and was a co-owner of Jason's Waterfront Restaurant. He was also a past member of the Putnam Lions Club.
In 2007 Andy and Sue moved to Cape Coral Florida to retire and enjoy the sunshine, fishing , and golf.
But Andy had to stay busy and he began buying and selling vintage toys, collectible, antiques or anything that struck his fancy. Andy loved the 'Art if the deal' and could be found at estate sales and flea markets all over Florida. He recently began managing estate sales and found a new "Hobby". He also enjoyed 'fixing' stuff and he filled his time renovating his own home and the homes of his siblings. If he didn't know how to do something he would figure it out and would go to the great lengths to help others.
He loved playing golf, fishing and the times he spent with his sons and grandchildren. Andy welcomed visitors to his home in Florida and looked forward to spending time with his family. A visit was never complete without a trip to Joe's Crab Shack or the Money Bar- two of his favorite placed. He was an
avid New England Patriots fan and loved Nascar racing.
