Andrea Jean Chrestensen
03/23/1948-11/08/2022
Andrea Chrestensen, formerly of Carlin NV passed peacefully in her home in Elko, NV after a brief, difficult battle with cancer. She fought the hardest of fights and gave it her all.
Andrea was the daughter of Norma Jean and Wallace Hesse and was born in Reno, NV. She spent her childhood in Carson City, adventuring and causing havoc. Her favorite place was Lake Tahoe, and she could tell stories for days about all of her fun times and adventures on the lake. Her love for hunting, the outdoors and all things crafts started at a young age. Later in life, she would pass the passion of her hobbies to her children and grandchildren.
In 1972 she married her husband of 50 years, Chris Chrestensen; they had 2 daughters who were the light of her life. The family resided in Reno for a short time before moving to Carlin, NV in 1978, where she spent most of her life.
She worked hard to become a registered nurse while raising a young family. She spent many years thriving in the exciting environment of the ER. After that, she was a school nurse in Carlin, and eventually a community health nurse. Nursing was a huge passion of hers and she was very skilled and compassionate. She was always on the go and always stayed busy. Her flourishing garden, freshly painted house, beautiful pottery, detailed paintings, and over the top holiday decorations are just a few examples.
Andrea struggled with many battles in life, including many years of chronic pain; even so, she was always worried more about others than herself and her love for her family and friends was ever present. Those who knew her enough to share time with her, taste her cooking or hear her laugh were the lucky ones.
Andrea is survived by her husband Chris Chrestensen, mother Norma Jean, daughter Karie Wright, brother Paul Hesse, grandchildren Wyatt Wright, Hannah and Caden McClellan and great grandchildren Casen and Ryleigh. She is preceded in death by her father Wallace Hesse and her daughter Lori McClellan.
