1977 - 2025

A Frankfort resident, Ms. Andrea Ashly McCool, age 48, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2025 at UofL Jewish Hospital. She was born April 26, 1977 in Louisville to Alice Fay Higginbotham and Earl Cary McCool. Andrea was a 1995 graduate of Shelby County High School and graduated from University of Kentucky and University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She was a Nurse Inspector for the Kentucky State Office of the Inspector General, was an RN BSN and Nursing Care Technician for UK Chandler Medical Center and was a research analyst for the University of Kentucky. Andrea was an animal lover and was an avid reader. She enjoyed traveling, crafting, loved the beach, cooking and shopping. Andrea made the world a better place with her compassion, love and wonderful smile. She was her mother and fathers sunshine.

She is survived by her father, Earl McCool of Shelby County, her mother, Alice Higginbotham of Bardstown and her best friend, Chris Tomlinson of Somerset. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, many loved cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Ms. Andrea Ashly McCool will be 12:00 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2025 at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown. Bro. Doug Simpson will officiate. Interment will be in Bardstown Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the funeral service. The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
