Andrew "Andy" Anderson
Born: October 31, 1976 in Woodstock, IL
Died: November 9, 2025 in Barrington, IL
Andrew "Andy" Anderson was born on Halloween 1976. He is survived by wife Mary Anderson, son Luke, and daughters Abby and Kiersten. He is also survived by his mother, Gail Anderson, and sisters Amy "Amanda" Anderson (Peter Kahn) and Rebecca Connelly (Mike). Andy was preceded by his father, Richard Anderson. Andy was a favorite uncle to his 14 nieces and nephews, including his predeceased nephew Colton Wray; he was the "fifth brother" to his wife's family, the Wrays.
Andy was known for his strength, both physical and emotional, and for his huge heart, quick wit, and sly charm. Andy loved people and everyone loved Andy. He was magnetic, making friends with all. He was the rock of his family, his pride and joy. Andy was fortunate enough to marry his high-school sweetheart, Mary Wray, in 2001, and they built a love that was an inspiration to everyone who knew them. Their love story was even published in a bestselling book written by Andy's lifelong best friend, David Finch.
No one loved sports more than Andy. A lifelong diehard Bears fan, Andy played football for the McHenry high school team and then played as linebacker for North Central College in Naperville. He also loved baseball, playing and then coaching Little League while always rooting for his beloved Chicago Cubs. Andy also coached soccer and softball for his children's teams. He enjoyed golf and cross-country skiing. He spent many hours watching college basketball and ran March Madness brackets with his friends and family.
At North Central, Andy graduated with a BA in Organizational Communications. With his stellar intellect, Andy built a successful career in professional services, specializing in enterprise software consulting and implementation. His last position was Revenue Cloud Delivery Director for OSF Digital. He was also a member of the Fellowship of Faith Church in McHenry. Whether it was work or church, Andy maintained at least one lifelong friendship everywhere he went.
Andy's strong spirit showed through his love of amusing friends and family through song, funny quips, and making random noises. This, along with a steadfastly positive attitude, enabled him to fight a chronic disease for over two years before being released from his struggle on November 9. His family, friends, and the medical staff that served him will always remember his exceptional dedication to survival and to life.
A Celebration of Andy's Life will take place as an open house at the McHenry Country Club on Monday, November 17 from 4:00-8:00 pm. Dress is casual, and guests are encouraged to wear their favorite sports attire.
