Andrew Blust

1986 - 2025

Andrew D. Blust "Dupree" of Alpena, formerly a resident of Gaylord, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 21, 2025 at his home in Alpena, age 39.
Andrew was born in Tawas City on Jan. 26, 1986 to Kenneth and Edith (Donovan) Blust. He graduated from Tawas Area High School with the Class of 2004.
Andrew worked as a cook at several restaurants mostly in the Gaylord area during his working years. Most recently he was working as a machinist at a manufacturing company in Alpena. Andrew was very active and absolutely enjoyed life. He loved fishing and golfing, going to the gym, playing cards, and had a hilarious way to deliver funny stories!
Andrew was a huge fan of the University of Michigan athletics, Go Blue! He was very close with his family and truly adored his mom, brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Andrew had an amazing genuine heart and he was willing to help anyone who needed a hand.
Andrew was a great help to his mom, to whom he was so close with. He would help her with yard work and cooking, especially if he could add his secret spices. Andrew will forever be cherished by everyone who knew and loved his caring heart.
He is survived by his beloved mother, Edith Blust; three brothers, Mike (Cathy), Rick (Julie) and Kenny (Jody); nieces and nephews, Gregory (Emma), Megan, Michael, Claire, Samantha, Beau (Andrew's Godchild), Gracie, Donovan and Emery; great nephew, Wesley; three aunts, Grace Rowley, Jean Pavlik and Patricia Ozybko; and many special friends. Andrew was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Blust in 2011; and his brother, Anthony "Tony" in 2021.
Visitation is scheduled for Andrew on Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas. A funeral mass is planned for Friday, April 25, at 2 p.m. at the church with Father Lawrence Boks officiating. Andrew's family will welcome friends at the church on Friday for a time of visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral mass. He will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery in East Tawas.
