Andrew Burtyk Obituary
Born in Slickville, PA on January 26, 1932 he was the son of the late Wasyl and Anna (Lapask) Burtyk. He was raised in Slickville, PA, attending Slickville Public Schools and graduating from Slickville Public High School. He was retired from the U.S Air Force (1952 – 1972), serving during the Korean War and Vietnam War as an aircraft mechanic. After military service, Andrew worked for the U.S. Post Office until he retired.
Andrew is survived by his wife Dolores (Salvatore) Burtyk of Pocasset, MA, a son Dale Burtyk of Fairfax, VA, a daughter Diane (Dickson) Burtyk of Pocasset, MA, four grandchildren; Alisha Burtyk of Greeneville, SC, Justin Burtyk of Virginia Beach, VA, Keith Dickson of North Falmouth, MA, Shane Dickson of Pocasset, MA., and a sister, Evelyn Bush of Latrobe, PA.
Military Burial will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery on Wednesday November 23, 2016 at 10:15am.

Andrew was a member of my workforce when he worked for the Postal Service.
He was a true asset to the organization and an even finer gentleman.
My sincerest condolences to his wife and family.

At this time of the season. I know it's very difficult for all to even think about what tomorrow may bring with the passing of Mr. Burtyk. But, I can speak for myself, I know he would not be happy knowing everyone was sitting around feeling sadness and devastation at his loss. So, I would hope all who have gathered together to witness his memorial service on November 23, 2016, will make his day a celebration of his life. Remembering the joy he brought to his loved ones, as a brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend to all he befriended in the military service and his civilian life, neighbors alike. For, these memories to all of us will keep his spirit alive. I will always remember his welcoming acceptance of me no matter what path in life I came from. Also. his mentor-ship and his kind and generous giving ways.
