Andrew Francoeur

Scarborough - Andrew Francoeur, 82, of Buxton, Passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, after a long struggle with bladder and liver cancer. Andy was born in Westbrook in 1943, the son of Gerard and Jeannette (Bernier) Francoeur. He was the third child of seven and always enjoyed having a big family.

Andy grew up in Westbrook attending local schools, graduating from Westbrook High School in the class of 1962. While in school he played many sports including baseball, basketball, and his favorite football. In 1962, he won the trophy for the best football player of the year.

After graduation Andy enlisted in the United States Army and was sent to Fort Drum, New York for 6 months of training. He then continued to serve for 6 years in the National Guards.

In 1964 Andy married Phyllis Currier and together they had 2 children, Kimberly and Timothy. Phyllis and Andy had been married for 61 years and had just celebrated their anniversary on October 17th.

Andy had many interests, stock car racing, football, baseball (He served as Coach for the Gorham Babe Ruth team for 3 years), and boating on Sebago Lake with family. For 21 years he and the family rented a camp on Harmon's Beach, and it was an open house for all family and friends.

Andy worked at S.D. Warren and Sappi Paper for 39 years, retiring at the age of 60. He enjoyed his job and never minded going to work.

Andy was predeceased by his parents Jeanette and Gerard Francoeur, brother Jerry Francoeur, brother in-laws Ronald Currier, Ken Reed, Rudy Rech, Paul Sullivan, and Ernie Morse, sister in-laws Roxanne Francoeur, and Carol Morse.

He leaves behind his wife Phyllis, daughter Kimberly Field and son Timothy Francoeur, son in-law Tony Field, grandchildren Corey Spaulding, Ryan Spaulding, Matthew Francoeur, and Kiara Field, great grandsons Maverick Spaulding and Grayson Spaulding, Siblings Eugene Francoeur and his wife Anita, Jane Francoeur, Patricia Rech, Theodore Francoeur, Anne Reed, and Katherine Sullivan, Brother in-law Dennis Currier and sister in-laws Mary Ann Currier and Patricia Currier, along with many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Buxton Rescue and Maine Health Radiology Dept for the kindness and concern throughout this ordeal.

Visiting hours will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 AM on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Dolby Blais & Segee, 35 Church Street, Westbrook. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 am and burial will be held after at St Hyacinth Cemetery 296 Stroudwater Street, Westbrook.
