Andrew Greer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Omega Funeral & Cremation Service on Mar. 18, 2026.
Andrew Aubrey Greer Jr.

July 11, 1950 – March 4, 2026

Andrew Aubrey Greer Jr. was born July 11, 1950, in Moline, Illinois, to Andrew Aubrey Greer and Esther Marie McKenzie. Andrew, known affectionately as Skip, passed away on March 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving daughters: Gabrielle Marie Meadows, Katherine Jo Greer, Melinda Anne Greer, and Amber Michelle VanHagen.

Andrew served with distinction in the U.S. Army, becoming a Green Beret and achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. On February 11, 1972, during his first year stationed in Germany, he was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and his example inspired many family members to follow.

After his military service, Andrew spent about a decade in Polk County, Florida, where he coached local sports and earned his associate's degree at the University of South Florida. Later, he made Oregon his home, founding and operating Greer's Temptrol, Ltd., a heating and air conditioning company. For over 30 years, he served his community with dedication.

Andrew loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, camping, and playing golf. He also enjoyed watching college football and old westerns, particularly the classic television show Gunsmoke. He was a self-taught guitarist who loved playing music and dancing, raising chickens, and tending his garden. He had a true green thumb and took great pride in growing his own vegetables.

He is survived by five daughters, eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and was the oldest of his siblings: Merlene, Penny, Lynda, Carlette, and Mike. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Aubrey Greer and Esther Marie McKenzie.

A memorial service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on April 22 at 2 p.m., Earth Day. Andrew's legacy of service, strong work ethic, love of the outdoors, and passion for gardening, college football, dancing & music will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
