Andrew Harley Leighton

HOULTON - Andrew Harley Leighton, 67, of Houlton, passed away at his home on July 16, 2025. Born on July 2, 1958, in Houlton, he was the beloved son of Albert and Dorothy (Nightingale) Leighton.
Andrew will be remembered not only for his steadfast dedication to his work as a machinist in the tool-die industry at Louisiana Pacific and Sloats machining but also for his passions that brought him joy throughout life. Andrew had a deep love for the simple pleasures in life. He could often be found tinkering in his woodshop, working on antique cars alongside his son Matt, or riding the trails in the side by side with his beloved wife Laurie. Most of all, he cherished time with his Family. Andrew was the kind of man who would always show up when someone needed a hand-always steady, always willing, always kind.
Andrew is survived by his loving wife, Laurie Leighton; daughter Sarah Carr of Edinburg; son Matt Leighton of Houlton; grandchildren: Zachary Carr (Abigail) of Milo, Wyatt Carr of Passadumkeag, Gabby Chasse (Jonathan) of Howland, Brianna Carr (Jerry) of Passadumkeag, and Brady Carr of Edinburg. He also leaves behind his nephew Ryan Doescher (Sara) of Indianapolis as well as several nieces nephews, sisters and brother in laws, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Dorothy; his sister Laurie Doescher and brother-in-law Jay Doescher
Andrew's strength, loyalty, and quiet generosity left a lasting mark on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to a charity of your choice or encourages you to do something kind for someone in Andrew's memory.
A Celebration of Life will be held August 30th at 2 pm at Tall Timber Lodge.
