Andrew Mastalski Obituary
He was born to Andrew and Ruby Mastalski on October 22, 1931 in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. He was one of 5 children and later gained 5 step-siblings.
He married Rose Angela MacCutcheon in 1965, at Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee, Massachusetts. He met her while stationed at Upper Heyford Air Force Base near her home in England. They were married for 50 years before she passed in 2015.
Andy had two main careers. He was in the Air Force for 20 years, retiring in1971. He loved to talk about his time in the military and how he gained an education by traveling the world. After retiring, Andy and Angela settled in Lakeland. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Winter Haven, Florida for 20 years. He had the downtown area and walked 13 miles a day. He loved the job and being able to talk with people along his route.
Andy and Angela were huge fans of Lakeland High School's football team, the Dreadnaughts, attending games beginning in 1982. They were known as the Boat Hat family. Angela made hats for them that looked like Dreadnaught ships. They wore them to all games, home and away. They had the same season tickets for decades and always had lots of people come up to visit. Andy continued wearing the hat by himself after Angela's passing.
Andy is survived by his daughter Belinda Smith (Bryan), granddaughters Paige Cappiello (Joey) and Courtney Smith, and four great grandchildren.
Andy's service will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Lakeland Funeral Home, 2125 Bartow Road Lakeland, FL 33801. Visitation will begin at 1:00 with the service following at 2:00.
