Andrew Michael Mata, age 68 of Curtice, Ohio, passed away at home on March 25, 2026. Mike was born one of a kind but also one of two on October 16, 1957, to Andrew S. and Anna (Swanson) Mata in Toledo, Ohio. He was a 1975 graduate of Waite High School. Mike retired as a Carman from CSX Railroad after a long career. Mike was very knowledgeable and a jack-of-all-trades. He enjoyed tinkering on cars in his barn, taking care of his personal golf green, cooking, baking, and especially eating.
Mike is survived by his siblings, Pat (Mel) Rill, Sue (Greg) Hornstein, twin sister Margie Egan, and Bill (Lucy) Mata; nieces and nephews, Kim, Jeff, and Tiffany Stevens, Brian and April Mata, Cory Zack, Shayne, Katie, and Lela Hornstein; and close friends Kevin and Ricky. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Michael Andrew Mata, and canine buddy Cosmo.
Mike's wishes were to "keep things simple." To honor this, there will be no services. The family wishes to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff at Perrysburg Oncology for all the help they gave Mike. Memorial contributions are appreciated to the Toledo Humane Society.
We love you, brother. May You Rest in Peace. Mom and Dad will take care of you.
