Andrew E. Mathews, 68, peacefully departed this life on March 10, 2026. He was born October 25, 1957, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Charles Rudolph and Maggie Mae Mathews.
In 1976, Andrew enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably until 1979. Andrew and Martha Fletcher married in 2015. During his later years, he found great purpose in studying the Bible and preparing to join the congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Rae and Elouise Jones; and brothers: Bobby Newman, John Newman, Victor Newman Sr., Sylvester Mathews, Calvin Mathews, and Frank “Pickle” Mathews.He is survived by his devoted wife, Martha Fletcher Mathews; siblings, Lawrence “Mickey” Mathews; Mary A. Mathews and Charlesetta "Charlie" Mathews; children, Ali and Andre’ Hayes, Aaron Mathews, and Clayton Matthews; Sparkle Mathews Bly (DeMarcus), Tijera Safir (Omar), Andrewana Mathews, and TaCora Burton, 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, who brought him immense joy. He will also be missed by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, as well as his close friends, Carl McFarland, Al Shirley, Lionell Spiller and Elmer Jacobs (Tatpole), and countless friends whom he loved and cherished.
Service will be held Saturday March 21, 2026, at Kingdom Hall 3601 East 53rd Street Kansas City, MO 64130. The visitation will begin at 12:30-1:30 pm, the Service will follow at 1:30 pm.
