Andrew Thomas Niemir, 62, left this world on Thursday, September 18, 2025. He was born on August 14, 1963, the fourth son of Joseph and Kathleen Niemir. The youngest of five children, Andrew grew up in Floral Park, Long Island, and often spent time at his family's home in Maine. Andrew loved Floral Park and the people of his community-many of whom he served during his many years as a valued city employee.

As a lifelong artist, Andrew created and sold pottery, paintings, and stained-glass artwork. A lover of all forms of art, he immersed himself in books, films, and his ultimate passion-music. He especially loved attending rock concerts throughout the tri-state area.

Those who truly knew Andrew understood the depth of his kindness, generosity, and quiet strength. Behind a reserved demeanor was a huge heart-one that cared deeply for his friends, family, and community in ways that were often subtle but always profound. Andrew never met a person he didn't consider a friend. His big-hearted nature sometimes tangled with his delivery, but his intentions were always generous and kind.

After the recent passing of the love of his life, Martha, Andrew sought to better his life and honor her memory, even as he battled growing health challenges.

Andrew was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph Niemir (December 25, 2022) and Kevin Niemir (November 13, 2024). He is survived by his older sister, Karen; his brother, John; sisters-in-law, Patty (Joseph) and Wendy (Kevin); and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He will be remembered for his warmth, humor, creativity, and the steadfast love he shared with those fortunate enough to know him.
