Andrew Toliver Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 3, 2023.
Andrew "Drew" Stuart Toliver April 2, 1998 – October 27, 2023With profound pride and boundless love, his parents, William and Andrea Fulton Toliver, stand witness to the remarkable tapestry of achievements Drew wove throughout his twenty-five years of life. Born at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, Drew's life was touched by a remarkable moment when, just hours old, he had the privilege of meeting the legendary Sidney Poitier, the first black actor to win the Academy Award for Best Actor. Drew's early education took him to Cornerstone Christian Academy and Notre Dame Academy. His journey in Cub Scouts began in the first grade, leading him to achieve the prestigious Arrow of Light Award, the highest rank in Cub Scouting, preparing him to transition to Boy Scouts. This accomplishment set him on a path of leadership and service, and he carried the distinction of this award into his adult life as well.
Drew's commitment to the values of the Boy Scouts continued as he joined Troop 585 at Simpsonwood United Methodist Church in Peachtree Corners, Georgia. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout, a testament to his dedication and leadership. His Eagle Scout Project exemplified his desire to make a positive impact, as he provided hundreds of hygiene kits to homeless families in downtown Atlanta through the Seven Bridges to Recovery Ministry. Drew was also honored with the World Conservation Award and had the opportunity to join his troop on a 90-mile hike at Philmont Scout Ranch High Adventure in Cimarron, New Mexico.
During his time at Pinckneyville Middle School in Peachtree Corners, Georgia, Drew's talents shone brightly. He received the sixth-grade drama award for his role as Lysander in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and showcased his musical skills as a tuba player in the concert band. His participation in the Junior Leadership Corps earned him a first-place award for the "Knock-out Drill" Competition. Drew was not only academically inclined but also a dedicated soccer player, serving as the goalie for the Norcross Soccer Academy Gold Team. His love for sports extended to lacrosse and football, earning varsity letters while playing for both Christ School and Peachtree Ridge High School.
After graduating from Norcross High School in 2016, Drew attended the University of South Carolina, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from the Darla Moore School of Business. He loved SEC football and DJ'ing at tailgate events. As a member of the Phi Kappa Phi fraternity, Drew embraced charity and missionary work. One of his most cherished experiences was a missionary trip to Cuba, where he installed appliances to provide clean drinking water to homes. During his junior year, Drew spent a semester studying abroad in Florence, Italy, broadening his horizons, cultural experiences and working as a DJ in clubs.
Following graduation, he worked in the fintech industry as a sales development representative, but his true passion resided in the world of music entertainment. Under the stage name "Manicc," Drew began his career as a DJ, spinning at college fraternity parties, clubs, and private events. His exceptional talent and dedication in this field led him to DJ at various venues in and around the Buckhead area, leaving countless people with unforgettable memories on the dance floor.
Drew is survived by his loving parents, William and Andrea Fulton Toliver, his grandmothers, Gloria Fulton of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, and Gwendolyn Toliver of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also remembered fondly by his aunt and uncle, Denise Breeden Gaines and Dwight Gaines of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, aunt and uncle Jenny Ross and Ronald Ross, and his cousins, Jamila and Chad Jimerson, Kaleb Young, Louis and Stephanie Breeden, Aspen Breeden, Darren Gaines, and Hayden Phillips, Gregory Ross, and Ronald Ross, Jr. Drew was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Dennis Fulton and William W. Toliver, and aunt Karen M. Toliver. He leaves behind an extended family that cherished him dearly, and his memory will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
In this time of loss, we find solace in the belief that when we can't see God's hand, we can trust His heart. Drew's life was a testament to the values of leadership, service, cand compassion for others, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of music. He touched the hearts of many, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and uplift those who had the privilege of knowing him.
