Andrew Trent Obituary

Andrew Christopher Trent

October 23, 1990 - December 14, 2024

Andrew Christopher Trent, 34, died unexpectedly on December 14, 2024. Born on October 23, 1990, Andy was a lifelong resident of Richmond, where he grew up with a deep love and respect for nature and his community.

Andy's love for the outdoors defined his life. Whether it was fishing along the banks of the James River, spending time at Lake Anna, exploring the mountains around Lake Tahoe with his brother, or reading while walking the roads and trails around Richmond, he found peace in the natural world. He filled backyard ponds and multiple aquariums with fish, snails, crayfish, and tadpoles. He carried home rocks, pinecones, and interesting items he found. He worried about trash impacting the river and ponds and was known for his efforts to keep those places he loved clean.

Andy was a devoted fan of Washington's sports teams, especially the Caps. When he wasn't cheering for his teams, fishing, hiking, or reading, Andy was likely enjoying a round of disc golf, a pastime that brought him joy, especially when he played well.

Known for his tender heart, Andy was a caregiver in every sense, offering a helping hand to a friend in need or working with dog rescues. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, gentle spirit, selflessness, and the unwavering support he gave to everyone in his life.

Andy is survived by his parents, Dale Trent and Elisabeth and Chris Burnette, his brother, Daniel Trent, his grandmother, Dot Burnette, aunts, uncles, many cousins, a large circle of friends, and all those who were touched by his kindness and generosity.

A celebration of Andre W's life will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 503 Stuart Circle, Richmond. Family and friends will be received at the church an hour prior to the service. All are encouraged to wear their favorite jersey, Christmas finery, Chive t-shirt, or anything that makes you happy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Richmond Animal Care and Control Foundation, specifically the Tommie Fund (raccfoundation.org and note Tommie Fund) or Friends of the James River Park (https://jamesriverpark.org/).

Andy's legacy lives on in the beautiful spaces he loved, the lives he touched, and the love he so freely gave. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. We will think of him fishing in heaven, with Nesta, the girl who loved him best, by his side.
