Richard Anthony Thompson, affectionately known as Andy by his loved ones, passed away on March 22, 2026, in
Nampa, Idaho, due to heart failure.
Born on February 9, 1969, in
Boise, Idaho, Andy was a vibrant soul whose warmth and kindness touched all those around him. As the cherished son of the late Fred and Berneil Thompson, Andy's devotion to his parents was evident throughout his life, embodying the values they instilled in him. His bond was strong with his two brothers, Del (married to Stacy) and Paul (married to Karla), all of whom reside in
Nampa, Idaho. Andy's role as an uncle was one he took pride in, nephews and nieces, Tarah Ray, Ryan, Sean, and Quinton Coleman, as well as Melissa, Benjamin, and Jeremy Coleman. He had a few great Nieces and Nephews who will hear many memories about uncle Andy as they grow up. He was a loving Uncle. Sean had a special bond with his Uncle Andy. He will keep his memory alive through his fish tanks! Benjamin was ALWAYS available for Uncle Andy and his room mate for many years. Andy's brother, Paul, enjoyed the times they spent together, just sitting and talking. These conversations, often shared with Benjamin as well, were filled with laughter, stories, that comes from years of shared experiences. Andy's ability to listen will be forever missed. He spent countless hours working on the trailer with his nephew Benjamin, sharing handy skills and that went beyond the nuts and bolts of their projects. These moments were not just about maintenance or repair, but about building a strong bond between uncle and nephew, a connection that Benjamin will carry with him always.
Andy's early education at Stonehouse Evangelistic Church/School in Meridian, Idaho, laid the foundation for his strong work ethic. He began his career in the workforce with jobs in pizza delivery. However, it was his role as a parts runner for O'Reilly's in
Nampa, Idaho, that Andy found his true calling. He often talked about his job. Beyond his professional life, Andy was known for his varied interests, which brought joy not only to himself but also to those around him. His love for his cats was unparalleled, and he took great pleasure in caring for his fish tanks, creating tranquil aquatic worlds that reflected his calm and thoughtfulness. A shared hobby with his oldest brother Del, remote control vehicles, brought countless hours of fun and laughter, many hours discussing life, strengthening their bond and creating lasting memories. Andy's life was a testament to the joys of simplicity and the richness of relationships. He found happiness in the small things: the purring of his cats, the quiet hum of his fish tanks, and the thrill of navigating an RC car around. His presence was a source of comfort and joy to his family, and his absence will leave a void that cannot be filled
