Angela Bowden Obituary
November 28, 1932 - January 26, 2026
Angie grew up in Auburn, New York, and moved to Weedsport, New York, after marrying her husband Donald F. Bowden Sr. They were married for 67 years before his passing.
Angie graduated from West High School in 1950, then went on to nursing school at Auburn Memorial Hospital, graduating in June of 1953 with a RN Degree. She was employed for 30 years at Auburn Memorial Hospital and also worked at the Gibson Nursing Home in Weedsport for many years.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Weedsport, an active member of the Altar Rosary Society and the Weedsport Garden Club.
She married Donald F. Bowden Sr. on September 12, 1953, and they had seven children. She is survived by her seven children: Charlene (Juice) Langowski, Carolyn Campbell, RoseMarie Bowden (Walt Kordziel), Donald F. (Carol) Bowden Jr., Denise Bowden, Joseph Bowden, and Michael (Julie) Bowden; her nine grandchildren, Erin Hester-Merkovich (Justin), Elizabeth McDowell (Joe), Chris Campbell, Hunter Bowden, Reilly Bowden (Sara), Zach Bowden, Joshua Bowden (Alyssa), Mike (Leah) Gehman, Chris Gehman; her seven great grandchildren, Elijah and Mila Merkovich, Callum and Angus McDowell, Colton Bowden, Porter and Celesta Gehman. Angie is also survived by her brother Nickolas Capozzi and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Angie was preceded in death by her husband Donald Bowden Sr; her sisters, Mary Bodine Osterman and Lucy Cuilla; her brothers, John, Tony and Pat Capozzi; and her two sisters-in-law, Pat Jorolemon and Marcia Bowden.
A calling hour will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, February 2nd in St. Joseph's Church, Weedsport, NY. A funeral mass will immediately follow at 11 a.m. in church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Snow Parish, 299 Clark Street, Auburn NY. Memo to Angela Bowden Funeral. Arrangements are with White Chapel Funeral Home, Weedsport.

Angie was our head nurse on 3 East during the 80/90s era and was warm and friendly to all.Pat B.,Angie and me would go to the 6am mass at St.Alphonsus,go to Websters and still make it to work by 7am to do our weekend shift.,. Will miss her yerribly

Angie was the kindest person with a big smile every time I saw her. We were both members of the Weedsport garden club. Angie will be missed. My condolences to her family.

I am so sorry to read this. Angie was my friend and mentor. 49 years ago when I started my nursing career on 2nd west, she took me under her wing. My mom was ill and Angie became not only my mentor but another mother figure. She taught me more than anyone, not just nursing but how to be kind and competent while still keeping a sense of humor. I remember her telling me how she did the laundry, milked the cows n got supper ready before working 7-3! Show me another who could do all THAT and keep a smile. We all loved Squeak too. When he had his Accident Angie was working and was just as calm as can be. We kept in touch over the years, recently several weeks ago. I talk about her all the time. She was so proud of her huge family! I´d hear all the stories.
Angie was a fantastic person and I´ll never forget her. My sincere sympathy and love to her family. Aloha Angie . Love you.

I remember Angie from our TOPS meetings in Weedsport. We were members for many years and we would see each other at church services. She was a wonderful person and always so friendly. My sincere condolences to Angie's family.

I remember your parents as a child. Going to your house. My Parents were Thomas/Jennie Cullen. My dad used to work on Wesley & Peonies Bowdens farm just down the road. If I remember right your Dad sold insurance ? They were always so nice. Sorry for your loss.
