Angela Dawn "Sissy" Burris, 60, of Kannapolis, NC, entered her heavenly home on November 5th, 2025, at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital. Sissy was a woman of unwavering faith and radiant spirit-her love for the Lord guided her life and gave her strength through every storm. She endured many health challenges throughout the years, meeting each one with determination, courage, and grace. Though her body grew weak, her faith never wavered. In His mercy and grace, God called her home to be reunited with those who had gone before-her mother, Doris Burris; her brother, Tony Burris; and her only child and beloved son, Patrick Burris, who passed in June 2025. Her heart longed to be with them again, and they surely welcomed her with open arms.
Sissy was a woman whose heart was as vast as the ocean, that she loved so dearly. She found joy in life's simple pleasures-sunshine on the beach, a good soap opera, laughter shared with family and friends, and a cup full of her favorite drink, Sundrop, always by her side. She was someone you could always count on and lean on when the days grew hard, even while facing one of life's many hurdles that seemed to always come her way. She had a smile that could light up the room and a personality that could lift even the heaviest hearts. Sissy was also someone who would absolutely tell you how it is-honest, bold, and full of love. She never failed to tell you that she loved you and how much she appreciated you. Even in her hardest moments, she reached out to others with compassion, and generosity, sharing her strength and her love always giving far more than she received.
She always found beauty in the things others might have cast aside, keeping treasures others saw as trash, because she saw meaning and worth in all things. There was a sincere, gentle way in how she moved through the world-full of grace, compassion, and authenticity.
Sissy's faith was the foundation of her life. She had a deep love for the Lord and often found peace and connection through music-especially the songs of Brandon Lake. She was an avid football fan, cheering passionately for her Green Bay Packers, and a fighter in every sense of the word. Through every trial, she kept a smile on her face and grace in her heart.
Those who knew Sissy will remember her unwavering faith, contagious laughter, generous spirit, and her ability to find joy in the smallest moments. There will never be another like her-one with such strength, grace, love, and light. Though she left us too soon, her love will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
Born on April 12th, 1965, Sissy was the cherished daughter of Jerry and Alice Burris and the late Doris Burris. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Those left to cherish her memory include her parents, Jerry and Alice Burris; her siblings Kim and Shane Martin, Jimmy Burr, Tammy and Loy Harris, and Sherry Thomas Clarke; her grandchildren Brycen Burris and Conner Burris; her nephews Jeremy Wilhelm and Timothy Burris; her nieces Shana and Haylie Martin; and her great-nieces and nephew Albany Bumgardner, Raelynn Bumgardner, and Landon Bumgardner.
Our hearts are broken, but we will continue to love, just as she loved us-with kindness, with faith, and with an open heart. She will forever be remembered with a smile, a song in her heart, and a Sundrop in her hand.
The family asks that you hold your loved ones tight and always give them the largest hug, just as Sissy would.
