Angela M. Ewald, a radiant light whose smile could brighten even the heaviest of days, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on November 24, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy of creativity, kindness, and a joyful presence that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Angela was born to Richard and Kathleen Ewald on November 5, 1975, in Sheboygan, WI. After being raised in Fond du Lac, WI and graduating from Marquette University, she resided in several states before calling Oakdale, MN home with her partner Michael Phillips.
From an early age, Angela was a natural storyteller and a gifted writer. She turned that passion into a career as a writer, producer, and editor of children’s television. Her dedication and talent earned her an Emmy – an honor that reflected not only her professional brilliance, but the heart she put into every project.
It’s Angela’s spirit that makes her unforgettable. Always up for a good time, she was the first to celebrate others and added her own special touch to every occasion. Along with her quiet positivity, Angela had a rare gift for being fully present – listening deeply, caring effortlessly, and making everyone around her feel seen and loved. She was endlessly creative, imaginative and had an eye for acknowledging beauty in even the simplest of things.
Angela is survived by her partner Michael Phillips; parents, Richard Ewald (Nancy Bindert) and Kathleen Ewald; siblings, Melissa (Shaun) Peterson and Kristin Ewald (Dan Kleiser). Angela was the proud “fun aunt” to Landon and Grace Peterson and Myles Ewald. She is also survived by Shawn and Patricia Phillips, parents to beloved Bradley and Hailey Phillips, as well as many other family members.
The incredible circle of friends who Angie leaves behind is far too long to list. Our family extends heartfelt gratitude to those devoted friends, whose selfless care and constant support brought her happiness, comfort and peace throughout her illness.
Though our hearts are heavy, Angela would want us to carry her smile, warmth and creativity with us every day. Whether you knew her by Angela, Ang, Angie, Ewald, or Gigi, she will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
A celebration of Angela will be held at a later date.
