Angela Mary Hofmann

Angela M. Hofmann, returned to our Lord on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in St. John's at Grace Haven Assisted Living, surrounded by her family. She was 90 years old.
Born January 31, 1935, in Baltimore, MD, Angela was the daughter of the late Donald B. Elliott Sr. and Mary P. Marker Elliott. She graduated from Kentwood High School and worked for IBM after graduation. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred G. Hofmann, in 2009.
Angela met Alfred G. Hofmann in December 1954 at a Christmas party in Baltimore while he was serving in the Navy. They were married ten dates later, on March 4, 1955, and moved to Detroit to start their family. Angela devoted her life to being a loving wife and mother. They lived in Redford Township and Troy, enjoying 54 years of marriage until Al's passing on October 30, 2009. In 2016, Angela moved from their Troy home to St. John's to be closer to her daughter and family.
Angela and Al were inseparable, enjoying visits with friends, going to the casino, and dining at local restaurants. She was known for her quick wit and ability to make people laugh. After moving to St. John's, Angela was affectionately known as "Mimi" by her growing number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose presence always brought her great joy.
Angela is survived by her sons, Alfred Gerald Hofmann Jr. and his wife, Susan of Brighton, and Dax P. Hofmann and his wife, Rebecca of Clarkston; and her daughter, Victoria (Hofmann) Hentemann of St. John's, who was predeceased by her husband, Mark Hentemann, in 2025.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jeff Hofmann (Theresa), Lacey (Hofmann) Rising (Marc), Justin Hentemann (Jillian), Stephen Hentemann (Morgan), Michael Hentemann, Angela Hentemann, and Thomas Hentemann; and ten great-grandchildren: Isabella, Isaac, Elias, Gemma, Amelia, Maximilian, Catherine, Gabriel, Clare, and Lawrence Hentemann. She was predeceased by her great-granddaughter, Philomena Hentemann, in 2021. She is also survived by her sister, Harriet Clingan of Shepherdstown, West Virginia, and was predeceased by her brothers, Donald Elliott (2024) and Thomas Elliott (2020)
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 2, at 5 PM at St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church, 154 Gold Ave. NW Grand Rapids, MI 49504. The Burial will be held at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 2520 W. Willow St. Lansing, MI 48933, on Saturday, December 6 at 11:00am. The Prayer Service will be held in the Mausoleum, followed by taking Angela out to her place of rest in the cemetery.
