Angelina Harper was the last child out of six born on September 10, 1920 in Grenville, Grenada West Indies. She was born to her parents the late Joseph and Sarah Elahie-LaMothe. As the baby of the family, she was naturally spoiled and talked quite a bit, asking questions and voicing her opinions (which never changed), this trait is what coined her the nickname "SAYE" because she would always have something to say. Angelina attended primary and secondary school and after completing her studies married her first husband Thomas Seers and had her one and only daughter Olga "Shirley" Seers. After her marriage ended, she boarded a boat and left her home in Grenada, for a fresh start in Trinidad, WI.
Angelina was a hard worker, having several jobs, she was determined to be a self sufficient, independent woman. She did just that by purchasing her first home, which she bought for the exact amount of money she had in her savings. One of the jobs she had was working at a restaurant in Port of Spain the capital of Trinidad which was located near the US Navy yard. One day a friend of hers paid a visit to her at her home and brought a friend o ['his with him. This friend was Wynter Harper, also a divorcee like Angelina. The three had a lovely visit and while conversing Angelina and Wynter realized they worked close to each other in Port of Spain and also worked the same 3pm-I I pm shift. The very next day Angelina had an unexpected visitor, Wynter Harper showed up at her house on his own and offered to give her a ride to work which she accepted and he continued to give her rides home after work so she wouldn't have to travel alone late at night. This began their courting.
A few years later after a date at the fair he asked her to be his wife and the rest is history of this blended family. They lived in Mount Lambert Trinidad for many years after that and then with the sponsorship of their good friends Steve and Carmen Hall they were able to migrate to the United States. They made their way to
Brooklyn, NY and then later finally settled in the city of
Paterson, NJ. They eventually were able to bring Wynters youngest son Patrick Harper and two of Angelina's grandchildren; Andraita and Francis to the United States to live with them.
Angelina worked as a live-in housekeeper up until Andraita had her one and only child Chanell. Angelina decided at that time to leave her job to help care for her Great Granddaughter and was a dutiful housewife. Angelina and Wynter took on the role of secondary parents to Chanell and did everything they could to provide the best life she could have and they did just that. Angelina along with her family attended All Saints Church in Glenrock, New Jersey and in 1990 the family joined Saint Paul's Episcopal church on Broadway in Paterson New Jersey.
Angelina was a simple, introvert but she enjoyed going on bus rides to Atlantic City with her friends and hitting the slots for years. After a few of her friends passed away she lost interest in going anymore but later found happiness in her "Scratch Off's" which she loved doing and would luckily always win!
Angelina was blessed to see five generations ()Cher children and was so proud of this accomplishment as this is something most people aren't lucky enough to do. Angelina had an undying love for her family immediate and distant.
Angelina was predeceased by her loving husband; Wynter Harper and her daughter; Olga "Shirley" Seers.
In the early morning hours on Thursday January 12, 2023 Mrs. Angelina Harper of
