Angelito Berongoy Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Clements Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc - Durham on Aug. 14, 2025.
Angelito "Lito" Berongoy, age 60, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family's love Tuesday, August 12th, 2025. He is survived by his wife, Sophia Berongoy; beloved children, Bianca, Katrina, and Leyton; parents, Antonio "Tony" and Paula Berongoy; siblings, Gina, Rudy, and Annette; and countless others he considered family.
Lito was a protector, a giver, and a quiet warrior. He chose to keep the depth of his illness private, not out of fear, but out of selflessness - so others wouldn't carry the weight of his fight. That grace and humility were reflections of how he lived: always thinking of others first.
Lito gave everything in his battle with cancer, never asking for anything in return. His strength was unwavering, and his courage inspiring. He lived a rich and adventurous life but wanted nothing more than to be with "the wifey" and watch his children continue to grow through life's milestones.
Throughout his career as a PICU nurse, Lito touched countless lives with his compassion and dedication. The outpouring of love and support from colleagues, friends, and family speaks volumes about the impact he made. Lito was cherished by many, and his kindness, loyalty, and warmth will live on in the hearts of everyone he touched. He was the life of the party and the spark that ignited joy in every gathering. His infectious smile and laughter turned regular ordinary moments into extraordinary ones.
His memory is a light that continues to shine through the stories, laughter, and love shared by those he left behind. His absence leaves a profound void in our lives but the memories shared will forever be cherished in our hearts.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 23rd at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham. The family invites all to attend a Celebration of Life immediately following the service at The Blue Note Grill in Durham from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, Lito's wish was for donations to be made to Duke Cancer Center. You may donate online at https://www.dukecancerinstitute.org/give-duke-cancer-institute.
