Angelo DiNello, 95, of Branford formerly of Hamden entered into eternal rest at Ark Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Branford on February 9, 2025. Prior to his passing, he was a long-term resident of the Seacrest Retirement Center of West Haven. Angelo was born in New Haven on March 15, 1929, the youngest son of the late Pasquale and Michelina Palmieri DiNello. He attended Prince Street School and graduated from Commercial High School in New Haven. He served briefly in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Prior to retirement, Mr. DiNello was a resident of Hamden and a long-time employee of United Aluminum in North Haven. He was an active member of the Columbian Social Club, where he could often be found tending bar and watching classic movies on TV with his friends and fellow club members. An avid sports fan, he closely followed the New York Yankees, the New York Giants, Yale football, and the UConn women's basketball team. He is survived by his sister, Gina (John) Oliano, of Long Beach Island, NJ and his many nieces and nephews, including Elissa Mastrangelo of East Haven, Gerald (Jerry) Mastrangelo of Branford and Robert Lembo of North Potomac, Maryland. He was predeceased by his brothers Carl, Joseph, Nicholas, and Pasquale (Pat) DiNello, and his sisters, Emma Lembo, Margaret Brunetti, Mary Baiocchi, Angela "Julia" Mastrangelo, Bianca (Blanche) Porto and Rosemarie Celentano.His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven TUESDAY morning February 18, 2025 at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00. Interment with military honors will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Family and friends may call TUESDAY morning from 8:30 to 10:30. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 355 Foxon Rd., East Haven, CT 06513.
