Angelo D. Irizarry

Age 73, of Plainfield passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 15, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born and raised in Chicago and a resident of Plainfield for the past 28 years. He was proud to be a Chicago resident of Humboldt Park and attended Yates Grade School, Sabin High School, and Tuley High School where he was a member of the ROTC. A proud United States Vietnam Army Veteran serving from 1970 until 1972 and served in the United States Navy after Vietnam. Angelo was a very decorated Veteran receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal (W/60), 1 Overseas Bar, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, and Marksman (M-16). Member of the Bolingbrook VFW Post 5917, and Bolingbrook American Legion Post 1288. He loved going to Vegas, playing slots and blackjack, going to the gun range, attending concerts, loved cars, going to auto shows, volunteering and attending many local events with his Bolingbrook Posts and spending time with his family. Retired from EBY-BROWN after many years of dedicated service.

Preceded in death by his parents, Emilio and Herminia (nee Acevedo) Irizarry; three brothers, Rafael, Leo, and Freddy Irizarry; two cousins, Albert Franco, and Raquel Garcia.

Survived by his loving wife of 33 ½ years, Victoria (nee Vallejo) Irizarry; cherished son, Evan Irizarry; one adored grandson, Isaac Hernandez; a sister, Providencia Irizarry; two brothers, Joseph and Israel (Tommy) Irizarry; and numerous cherished family members, post members and friends.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, in the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel 1105 E. 9th St Lockport, IL 60441 at 10:00am. Interment with Full Military Honors following service at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood. Visitation in the Funeral Home Chaple on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm.
