Angelo Manuel Quiles, a beloved father, grandfather, and veteran, passed away on June 7, 2025, at his home in Arlington, Texas. He was 85.

Angelo was born on August 29, 1939, in Hatillo, Puerto Rico, later settling in Los Angeles, California with his parents and brother.

As a teenager he was introduced to RC model airplanes which combined his love of aviation, building and creativity, and the technical challenge of flight – skills that he would use throughout his lifetime.

After his graduation from Manual Arts High School, he enlisted in the US Army so he could fulfill his dream of traveling and getting to see the world. Some of his fondest memories were of traveling to France and Germany and of his time stationed in South Korea where he won an award for best RC model constructed on base. Upon his honorable discharge, he was recognized for his meticulous maintenance to small arms and supply records earning his unit a superior rating from the Inspector General.

Not long after his return from the Army, Angelo started working as an auto assembler at General Motors, retiring after 33 years.

Some unforgettable memories of Angelo: Placing pictures of his daughters as pilot and co-pilot in an RC plane, fixing Barbie’s leg with a metal pin so she could walk again, watching him build and create things like a bar-b-que shaped like a wishing well, and so many family road trips.

He shared a lifelong love with his late wife, Ethelvina Quiles, and together they raised three daughters: Lillian Velez, Angela Murillo (Chris), and Claudia Jones. His legacy continues in his grandchildren—Andrea, Erica, Michael, and Matthew—each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

Angelo was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ethelvina, his parents Rosa and Pablo Quiles, brother Victor Quiles, and his sister Consuelo Fuentes.

Angelo’s daughters would like to extend a special thank you to Preston Veazia, who was not just a neighbor to Angelo, but also a very dear friend to the family. Thank you for your kindness and support these last couple of years.
