Angelo Suriano, a cherished patriarch and master of his craft, passed away peacefully at his home in Brick, NJ, on June 13, 2025, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. Born on October 17, 1935, in Newark, NJ, Angelo's journey through life was a testament to his enduring spirit and the love he cultivated.
A lifelong carpenter, Angelo's hands were rarely at rest, always creating, fixing, or building treasures that would become the legacy of his skill and creativity. His work was more than a profession; it was a calling that he answered with joy and dedication, leaving a mark of his craftsmanship in the homes and hearts of those who knew him.
His love for the outdoors was unparalleled, with fishing and hunting in New York State among his most treasured pursuits. Angelo's adventurous spirit found solace in the tranquil waters and the quiet forests, where he felt most at peace. These moments in nature were precious to him, a time to reflect and connect with the world around him.
A man of many talents, Angelo's culinary skills were legendary, especially when it came to making his famous Sunday gravy. His kitchen was a place of gathering, where aromas and laughter blended to create memories that would last a lifetime. Cooking for his family was not just about nourishment; it was about love, tradition, and the joy of sharing.
Angelo was the embodiment of handiness, creativity, and adventure. His adventurous soul was never ending, and it lives on in the stories and lessons he passed down to those he loved.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Janet (Devlin) Suriano, a partnership that stood as a beacon of love and mutual respect. His legacy continues through his children, Angelo P. Suriano, Adrienne Sutton, and Amanda Suriano, as well as his step-sons, Howie and Ken Buell and his wife Nicole. His sister, Louise Palagonia, remains to cherish his memory, along with a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss him deeply.
Angelo was preceded in death by his parents, Phillipe and Louisa Suriano, his brothers Phillip and Carmen Suriano, his sisters Sarah Scolavino, Grace Magliozzi, Isabella Marchigano, Virginia Suriano, and Jennie Schaefer. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and their influence on his life was profound.
To commemorate Angelo's life, we recall the words of the great poet Rumi, "Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes. Because for those who love with heart and soul, there is no such thing as separation." Angelo's love was one of heart and soul, and though he has departed this earthly realm, his presence will be felt always, in the gentle sway of the trees he once roamed beneath and in the laughter around the dinner table where his spirit will forever reside.
Angelo Suriano's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, hard work, and faith. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary man, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us for generations to come.
