Anita Pierce Driver, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, in Wilmington, NC, at the age of 61. Born on August 12, 1964, in Rose Hill, NC, Anita was a beacon of love and kindness throughout her life.
Anita was a devoted caregiver who selflessly dedicated herself to the care and well-being of others. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her professional life; she was deeply devoted to her family, always ensuring they were loved and cared for. Known for her warm heart and generous hospitality, Anita never met a stranger and took great joy in making sure everyone around her was well-fed and comfortable.
A woman of faith, Anita was a long-time member of the Free Will Chapel of 5 Mile, where her love for the church community and music flourished. She had a beautiful singing voice and found solace and joy in hymns and spiritual songs. Her artistic talents were evident in the beautiful crocheted baby blankets she lovingly crafted for family and friends welcoming new life into the world.
Anita had a passion for arts and crafts, and her creative spirit was matched only by her enthusiasm for cheering on her favorite team as a die-hard UNC fan. Her love for life was infectious, touching all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Hill and Ellen Faye Pierce. Anita is survived by her loving husband of over 40 years, Jimmy Driver, and their children: son Johnathan Kennedy of the home; daughter Juanita Smallwood and her husband Donald of Fort Worth, TX; and daughter Jocelyn Williams-Jenkins and her husband Andrew of Richlands. She is also cherished by her grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as "NeeNee" - Jacob, Rebekah and her husband Bradley, Benjamin Jr., Sarah, James, Treavor, Lilian, Andy, Adrian, and Ariel; and great-grandchildren Braxton, Easton, and Bowen. Anita's beloved cat Ghost and her granddog Hercules were also always close to her heart.
Many others in the community and family affectionately called her "Mama," a testament to the love and warmth she brought into their lives.
Services to honor Anita's life will be announced by Johnson Funeral Home of Richlands, who are honored to assist the family during this difficult time.
Anita Pierce Driver leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those she touched.
