Clara & John Updike

Dear Greg and Cathy,

We returned last night from California where we spent a week with Clara's sister and brother and their spouses. We were saddened to read of the death of your mother, Greg. It was in 1946 that we first began an acquaintance with Harold, Irvin, Anita, and "little" Greg. Through all these years we have enjoyed the friendship of the Goins family.

You have our sympathies,

Clara & John Updike

I think the world will not be quite as funny anymore without Anita, but heaven will gain. She was a lady with a great sense of humor and style. My earliest memories of her were of the exotic turban and her deep love of Greg and Irvin and her family. The quick offhand comments were always"right on". I am sorry she had to go through discomfort at the end but she will be in good hands now. I am glad we got to see her last Thanksgiving. Love to you all. Kathy Garvey Chuck, Joe, Anne, and Abbie also send their regards.

So sorry to hear of Anita's passing. I had such a good time with her and Greg's family on Thanksgiving a couple of years ago.
