ANITA MULLEN Anita Marie Mullen, 95, passed away on November 02, 2025 at Loving Care of McPherson in McPherson, KS. Anita was born on June 21, 1930 in Bellmore, NY to the late Trygve and Lillian (Rainone) Tholfsen. Anita married James Patrick (Jim) Mullen on September 4, 1954. She was a graduate of Mepham High School in Bellmore, NY, and she earned a Bachelor's Degree from Connecticut College in New London, CT. Anita worked briefly as a secretary and office assistant and spent most of her life as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Anita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jim Mullen; and her three brothers: Trygve, Robert, and Reidar Tholfsen. Anita is survived by her son John Mullen and daughter-in-law Rhonda Mullen, both of Lindsborg, KS; her two grandchildren: Amy M. Mullen (28, of Chicago, IL) and Christopher D. Mullen (25, of Lake Stevens, WA); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. After Jim and Anita were married they served overseas in the U.S. Foreign Service with tours of duty in Taipei, Taiwan; Saigon and Hue, South Vietnam; and Recife, Brazil. In the U.S. they lived together in Washington, D.C.; Rockville, MD; Golden Valley, MN; and Rapid City, SD. Following Jim's death in 2007, Anita moved to Kansas and has lived in Hutchinson, McPherson, and Lindsborg. She and Jim were avid bridge players, both earning the title of Life Master, and often traveling to bridge tournaments across the U.S. and Canada. There will be a visitation from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington St., Lindsborg, KS 67456. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Black Hills National Cemetery, 20901 Pleasant Valley Dr., Sturgis, SD 57785.
