Anita Marie Savedra, a beloved member of her community, passed away on Monday November 10, 2025, at St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas. Born on October 28, 1955, in Chanute, Kansas, she was the daughter of James and Doris (Bowyer) Diskin, who precede her in death. Anita was also preceded by her sister, Annette Hively.
Anita’s dedication to her work was evident she served as a Town and Country Grocery Checker, Billing Clerk for the City of Fredonia, and ultimately City Clerk for the City of Fredonia. Her commitment to her role and her community left a lasting impression on those around her, showcasing her work ethic and enthusiasm for public service.
A proud graduate of Chanute High School, Anita completed her studies with the class of 1973. Throughout her life, she embraced a variety of interests, including watching television programs such as "Wheel of Fortune" and "Let's Make a Deal." As a passionate sports fan, she supported her favorite teams, the Kansas City Chiefs and the University of Kansas.
On June 14, 1974, Anita was united in marriage to Martin Savedra at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Chanute, Kansas, married for 51 years, he survives of the home.
Anita held a profound love for her family, which included her husband, Martin who remains at home cherishing their life together. She is survived by her two children, Carissa Jo (Stoney) Shutte and Christopher (Shauna) Savedra, along with five adored grandchildren who were the joy of her life. In addition, she is survived by her sisters, Deana Bruce of Texas and Donna Smith of Port Arthur, Texas.
Anita will be remembered for her kind spirit, her laughter, and the joy she found in life's simple pleasures, especially through the time spent with her grandchildren. Her legacy will continue in the hearts of all who knew her, as well as through the family and friends she cherished deeply.
Visitation will be held on Monday November 17, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life starting at 2:00 PM at the Wickham Family Funeral Home in Fredonia, Kansas. The funeral home is located at 510 N 7th St, Fredonia, KS 66736.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wickham Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Fredonia, Kansas.
