Anita "Gail" Slate, a woman of strong Christian faith and beautiful soul whose presence filled the lives of everyone she encountered, has passed away at the age of 70 in her hometown of Gallatin, TN. She leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of her loved ones. Gail is preceded in death by her parents Carleen and Pauline Alderson, her loving grandparents, as well as numerous aunts and uncles. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years Steve Slate, her son Nathaniel (Joanna) Slate, and daughter DeeAnna Slate. She also leaves behind her three grandchildren Bella, Roman, and Holly who she loved dearly. Gail is also survived by her sister Sandi “Kay” Bradley-Alderson, her brother-in-law Steve Bradley, as well as many other relatives, uncles, aunts, and cousins. Gail also leaves behind her beloved dog Benny.

Born on December 17, 1953, in Gallatin, Tennessee, Gail's journey through life was marked by an unwavering love and dedication to her family. She was a loving mother who embraced her role with unyielding strength and devotion. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her universe, and she reveled in every moment spent with them. Family Gatherings were particularly dear to her heart. Around the holiday season she loved to go Christmas shopping. Making sure she would lovingly wrap presents, craft ornaments, and carefully create her own bows, crafting each gift with a piece of her heart.

Singing, dancing and music were Gail's constant companions throughout her life. No matter the genre or artist, she found solace and inspiration through the power of melody. Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, and Vince Gill were among her favorite artists whose songs resonated deeply within Gail's soul. Gail also enjoyed baking. Making and decorating cakes wasn’t just a past time, but something that she did professionally. Taking her time to intricately decorate cakes for all sorts of special occasions, weddings, and birthdays was something that gave her great pleasure in life.

Gail was a woman of remarkable personality – strong-willed yet fiercely loyal to those she held dear. Her love knew no bounds, and her protective nature enveloped her loved ones with a shield of care. With a playful spirit, she embraced silliness and wit, often lighting up any room she entered with laughter. Gail possessed a unique blend of stubbornness and outspokenness but was always grounded in honesty and bluntness; never one to hide behind pretenses or deceit.

As our beloved Gail departs from this world, we gather to honor her memory through a series of services. A Visitation will take place at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center located at 584 Nashville Pike in Gallatin on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, from 2:00PM until 6:00PM. Then from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on January 25, 2024. A Funeral Service will follow at the same location from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Finally, she will be laid to rest in Sumner Memorial Gardens at 420 Albert Gallatin Ave in Gallatin, where a Burial ceremony will take place from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on the same day.

Gail's departure leaves an indescribable void in the lives of her family and friends. We find solace in knowing that her spirit will forever guide us, and her legacy will endure through the memories we hold dear. In this time of profound grief, may we also celebrate her vibrant life and honor the woman who touched our hearts in immeasurable ways.
