Ann Basules

Ann Basules, 74, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born to Thomas and Eileen Walsh, Ann was the second of six children and grew up in Cresskill, New Jersey. She later made her home in Bergenfield, where she built a life centered around family, friendship, and community.

Ann was the beloved wife of Stanley Basules and a devoted mother to her son Ryan Basules and his wife Ashley (née Scanlon), and her daughter Sara Wendelken and her husband Sean. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Shane, Erik, Emma, Brendan, and Morgan, who brought endless joy to her life.

She is survived by her siblings Maureen Cooley (née Walsh) and her husband John, Tara Hertz (née Walsh) and her husband Greg, and Greg Walsh and his wife Ellen. She was predeceased by her sister Eileen Oelfke (née Walsh) and her brother Thomas Walsh. Ann was also a cherished aunt to many nieces and one nephew: Jenny, Alana, Karen, Christine, Caleigh, and Todd.

Ann was known for her generous heart, kindness, and the way she welcomed everyone with warmth. She loved cooking and baking for those she loved and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Her home was often filled with laughter, good food, and the comfort that came from her caring spirit.

In her later years, Ann faced breast cancer and dementia with remarkable grace and strength. Her courage and love for her family never wavered, and she remained an inspiration to all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, March 10, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Barrett Leber Funeral Home in Tenafly, New Jersey. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 11 at 10:00 AM at St. Therese Church in Cresskill, New Jersey, followed by interment at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ann's memory to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or the Dementia Society of America.

Ann will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the love, generosity, and warmth she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her.
