Ann Boylan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wallingford Funeral Home - Wallingford on Apr. 16, 2025.
Ann E. Boylan, 69, of Meriden, passed away surrounded by her family on April 14, 2025. She was born on September 6, 1955 in Meriden, the daughter of the late James and Anna Knope Boylan. Ann is survived by her loving brothers, James Boylan, Thomas Boylan, and Ken Boylan, her nieces and nephews, Jay and Renee Boylan, Mary Kate and David Cywinski, Heather and Gary Pappas, Kenny and Sarah Boylan, Jimmy Boylan, and Joshua Boylan. She was also the very proud aunt of her several great nieces and nephews, Alyssa and Jenna Boylan, Bryanne, Jillian, and Jared Pappas, Kathryn and Anna Cywinski, and Alicia Boylan.
Ann grew up hanging with her brothers and helping out at their parents' store, Boylan's Confectionery Store on S. Cherry St.,Wallingford. She went on to graduate from Mount Saint Mary's College in Newburgh, New York with her degree and certification in teaching. She spent many years teaching special education at Yalesville Elementary and then Parker Farms Elementary, where she would retire from. She was an active member of her local Polish Club and Ladies Auxiliary, which allowed her to extend her love for teaching beyond retirement by getting involved in multiple local scholarship committees. She was actively participating in the Polish Veterans of Foreign Wars and the PLAV Post 189 Henrietta Kulinski Memorial Scholarship committees in the later years of her life.
Ann, more affectionately known by her family as Annie or Anniebells, was an avid reader and loved to play games, whether that be board games, crossword puzzles, word searches, sudoku, or card games. She was known to seldom lose a hand of cards. She had loved teaching and cards so much that she would, not always so patiently, take the time to teach her great nieces how to play games such as Skip-Bo and Phase 10. She loved to spend her time at Misquamicut Beach with her family and friends, where she would often serve her favorite dinner of lobster, ending the night with Pina Coladas over a game of cards. (Of course she would make virgin drinks to spoil her great nieces and nephews.) She loved to take the time to go for lunch with her friends and family, of course with a coupon in hand. She particularly enjoyed going out to lunch and the casinos with her best friend in the entire world, David Bess. Whether it be at the beach, out for lunch, at holiday celebrations, or family occasions, she would come ready for a good time, always with a good joke ready to crack.
Ann's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday April 18, 2025, at the Wallingford Funeral Home 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford from 5:00 - 7:00pm. Interment will be private.
