On March 2, 2025, the world said goodbye to a truly special soul, Ann K. (Carr) Starr, born on September 17, 1940, in Montague, MA, lived most of her life in West Groton, MA. Ann left an indelible mark on every life she touched. Her resilience and courage, particularly in her two triumphant battles against breast cancer, and leukemia were an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a beacon of strength, proving that life's trials could be weathered with determination.
Ann was a devoted cook at Hale Nursing Home for many years. She was an avid genealogist, connecting the dots of her large family's history with ardent curiosity and dedication. Her love for her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. Everyone who knew Ann knew she had a passion for the Boston Bruins. She was an active woman who enjoyed bowling on Tuesdays, Jazzercise and her Health Rider, infusing fun and laughter into her routine. A skillful hand at crocheting, Ann's creations were warm and welcoming to all who received them.
Ann is survived by her sons Roy, Thomas, Todd, her siblings Milton, Arthur, Howard, Lois, Daniel, Joyce, Christy, Judy, Bruce and David. She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren along with countless lifetime friends. She was predeceased by her son Alan, longtime partner James (Jim) Waugh, granddaughter Jessica, brother Jon and her parents, Milton and Mary Starr.
Her life will be celebrated with a visitation at Badger Groton Funeral Home, 45 School Street, Groton, Massachusetts, 01450, on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Christian Union Church, 37 West Main Street, West Groton, Massachusetts, 01472, on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11:00 am. All are invited to join Ann's family for a reception in the parish hall following the funeral service. Burial will take place at a later date.
A graveside service will take place on Saturday, May 10th, 2025, at 11:00am at the Groton Cemetery, 242 Hollis St. Groton, MA 01450.
