Ann Clark's life journey began November 7, 1940, as the first child of the late Robert and Bernice Pretlow. Growing up in New York City with two brothers and two sisters, she registered a love for life and mankind. A thirst for education manifested early in her life as she attended public school, high school, and college in New York City.
She married Wilford Clark in May 1961. From this union that lasted 60 years until Wilford death and 2021, came three children, Gregory, Yomi, and Jonathan, Sr.
And was always there for her family, embedded in her goals, and a higher education was a must. Ambiguity was not in her vocabulary. She was reliable, responsible, hard-working, and an individual committed to a forward and solid path in life.
After college, she went to work for the city of New York for a number of years and then with the government, at the Veterans Hospital as a medical transcriber for the orthopedic department.
In 1971, Ann and Wilford built a home in Windsor, North Carolina and relocated. And landed a position in North Carolina with the board of education as a migrant education coordinator. After a number of years there she went with the US government, Cherry Pt. Marine Base.
She enjoyed flowers, going on shopping trips and casino trips. In 2000 and retired from the government with twenty-five years and joined her husband and his charter bus company. Ann and Wilford were members of St. Paul Baptist Church where she was a choir member, and he was an usher and Deacon.
She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Gregory (Maxine) and Jonathan (Rose); six grandchildren, Jonathan, Jr., Cameron, Gregory, Jr., Alisha, Keisha, and Crystal; three great-grandchildren, Janasia, Chakeli, and Tyion; two brothers, Robert (Theresa) and Thomas; two sisters, Linda and Roslyn (Wilbert); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members and loving friends.
