In Loving Memory of Ann Claire O'Brien

Ann Claire O'Brien, a longtime resident of Darien, passed away on the morning of February 5, 2026.

Known as Nancy to her friends and Grandma Jane to her grandchildren, she was born on December 31, 1934, in Maplewood, New Jersey. Service to others was always at the forefront of her life.

A devoted Catholic, Nancy began her lifelong commitment to helping others in Concord, MA, where she established the Ladies Guild at Our Lady's Help of Christians Church. Through her leadership, she strengthened the community by organizing weekly coffees, Christmas pageants, and fundraising events. Her volunteer spirit continued in Darien, Connecticut, where she contributed her time and energy to organizations such as Meals On Wheels, the Darien Community Association (DCA), and the Philanthropic Education Organization (PEO), among others.

Nancy was an avid tennis player and had a lifelong love of gardening. She worked as an interior decorator, and her home was a testament to her sense of beauty. An

accomplished artist, she moved effortlessly between oils and watercolors, and her artwork was exhibited in Connecticut.

Nancy was the devoted matriarch of her family, a role she fulfilled with grace, warmth, and unwavering devotion. Nothing brought her greater joy than gathering her children

and grandchildren for holiday banquets, birthday barbecues, or simple family dinners.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Harriet Plunket. Nancy is survived by her husband, Richard, and her children: Lynn Anderson (Steven), Laura

O'Brien, Daniel P. O'Brien (Mara), Leigh Bochicchio (Nick), Richard D. O'Brien Jr., as well as her six beloved grandchildren: Steven Anderson, Thomas Anderson (Mary),

Daniel P. O'Brien Jr., Olivia Bochicchio, Madalena Scoble (Harry), and Elizabeth

Bochicchio.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, February 10th, at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas More Church in Darien.
