Dear Jane, Paul and family,

I am so saddened to learn that Hank and Ann have both passed so recently. What a beautifully written obituary. My mother Mary Lento and Ann were fierce warriors for those on the autism spectrum as well as for any developmentally challenged child. They fought the fight WAY back in the day well before the term spectrum was commonly used for folks with an autism diagnosis.

What I remember so well about Ann was her keen intellect especially when talking to people who didn´t fully comprehend the importance of education for developmentally challenged and ASD children. And then our mothers faced another battle - what happens when folks age out of the educational system. Then our parents became even fiercer advocates for ASD and disabled individuals over 22 and the particular challenges they face as adults.

My favorite recollection of Ann and mom was their deep friendship. I can visualize them hanging out in one kitchen or another crafting and talking. They enjoyed traveling together and really loved making each other laugh. I am so sorry for you all. Sincerely, Laurann Lento Black
