Ann Preuitt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Peck Funeral Home - Hartselle on Sep. 6, 2024.
Patricia Ann (Bartlett) Preuitt passed away peacefully at home on August 31st, 2024. She was
born on June 26th, 1944 in Langdale (now Valley) Alabama, to Estelle (Frazier) Bartlett and
James Joel "J.J." Bartlett. She grew up with 3 older brothers and a younger sister who all
worked in the family business, Bartlett Furniture Company, in Double Springs, Alabama.
She graduated from Winston County High School in 1962 and attended Florence State
College, now the University of North Alabama.
She met Kenneth L. Preuitt on a blind date set up by mutual friends in 1963. They were married
on June 24th, 1965, and celebrated 56 years of marriage together until Kenneth passed away
in 2022.
One of their many life adventures included living in Naples, Italy for 3 years while Kenneth
worked for 3M Company. After 13 years with 3M, Ann and Ken took over the family furniture
business in Double Springs in 1976. They moved the business to Hartselle in 1986, where
"Preuitt Furniture Village" remained until they retired in 2015. In addition to being co-owner, she
also served as interior designer for their customers.
Ann and Ken had 2 boys: Ken Preuitt, Jr. and Dr. Nicholas Jay Preuitt. Ann was especially
proud of her 2 twin granddaughters Abigail and Olivia Preuitt. She was known to them as their
"Gaga." She loved keeping up with all of their activities, whether it was karate, cheerleading, or
volleyball. She even became "technologically savvy" enough to livestream their games online if
she had to!
Ann was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, her brothers Jim and Tom Bartlett, and
her parents. She is survived by her oldest son, Kenneth L. Preuitt, Jr. (Shannon Preuitt); 2
granddaughters, Abigail and Olivia Preuitt; youngest son, Dr. Nicholas Jay Preuitt (Kevin
Amick); one brother, Dr. Jerry Bartlett; and one sister, Dr. Amelia Jane (Bartlett) Dodd.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude's Children's
Hospital. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 11th from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at
Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle, Alabama.
