Ann Wollenburg Obituary

Ann Wollenburg

January 24, 1929 - November 21, 2025

With fond memories and heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Anna Josephine Wollenburg, on November 21, 2025. Born on January 24, 1929, in Wilber, Nebraska, Ann was a beacon of light and laughter. She was a loving and supportive mother, a dedicated worker, and a proud member of the DeWitt community. She was a 1947 graduate of Wilber High School. On August 10, 1951 she was united in marriage to Otto Wollenburg. Ann held various roles throughout her career, including at Crete Mills, Wilber Cleaners, babysitting local children, and Petersen Manufacturing where she retired from in 1991. After retirement, she and Otto enjoyed their summers in Minnesota.

Ann was a woman of many passions. She found joy in the simple pleasures of gardening, flowers, canning, baking kolaches and cookies. She was an avid fan of her beloved Minnesota Twins and Nebraska Husker Volleyball, but also rarely missed one of her grandkids' sporting events. She also loved her cats, Kirby and Dixie, and was very proud of her Czech heritage. Ann was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church of DeWitt where she taught Sunday School and was a past Secretary and Member Chair for the Legion Post #212 Auxiliary in DeWitt where she was a member for 69 years.

She is survived by her children, Randy (Jody) Wollenburg, Christine (Mark) Roesler, Ron (Cindy) Wollenburg, and Tina (Chuck) Holtmeier; grandchildren, RJ (Ashley), Lyndsy (Nate), Jill (Ben), Jennifer (Bobby), James (Jennifer), Jacki (Scott), Jesse (Kim), Josi (Justin), Lindsey (Jeff), Kyle (Delen), Lacey (Nate), Bailey (Jameson), Cody (Ashton), Sydney (Brian), and Sloane; 35 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law; 1 brother-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Wollenburg; her parents James and Marie (Mufka) Slapnicka; daughter-in-law, Teresa; sister, Mary; infant sister, Sylvia; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

A memorial service will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church of DeWitt on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 3 p.m., with a family prayer service starting at 2:45 p.m. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery. Service will be livestreamed by the church. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the family greeting from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Legion Post #212 Auxiliary or Trinity Lutheran Church with the funeral home in charge.

We invite loved ones to share their memories, stories, and photos of Ann as well as view her video tribute on her memorial page at www.ghchapel.com, keeping her spirit alive in our hearts. Her laughter, her love, her support, will forever be treasured. "Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." Proverbs 31:31

These services have been entrusted to the Venrick-Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel of DeWitt.

Annie, we called her, was our daughter´s, Nancy Flack, baby sitter when I taught school. She lived Annie and when I came to pick her up, she would cry because she wanted to stay with her. We loved Annie and Otto.
