Ms. Anne Dora Cox Andrews, daughter of Theodore C. Cox and Kathleen Cain Cox gently and peacefully departed her life and surrendered to the Lords call on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
At an early age, Anne Dora was converted and became a member of Mill Branch AME Church in Pamplico, SC. She served faithfully in the church on the Stewardess Board and the Missionary Society and was a supporter of many community efforts.
Anne Dora spent her formative years as an outstanding student at Wilson High School in Florence, SC. She was involved in various school activities. During this time, she met a handsome young man who she often admire during basketball games. So attracted to him, she was determined that someday he would become a major part of her life.
On November 12, 1947, Anne Dora married her sweetheart, DeLeon, the love of her life. In the early years of their marriage Anne Dora and DeLeon lived in Camden, New Jersey where DeLeon landed a job with CSX railroad, and they welcomed their first child, Diane into the world. The new member in the family prompted the loving couple to moved back to Pamplico, SC to be close to family. Upon their return to South Carolina, Anne Dora began working with the Department of Social Security and later served as an outstanding substitute teacher at Wilson High School.
Once they were settled back in their home town with lots of family support the couple became entrepreneurs and started their own business, a laundromat on the booming Dargan Street in Florence, SC. Not only was the business a means to provide for their family, it became a full-time commitment for Anne Dora.
Anne Dora, was a loving mother, grandmother, and the person know for making things happen for family and community friend. Whether it was planning fun and exciting events for the family at the beach or helping someone plan that unique wedding reception, church social or a meal for the elderly, you could always count on her. Anne Dora enjoyed life and gave love to us all that will last a lifetime.
Anne Dora, is predeceased by her parents, Theodore C. Cox and Kathleen Cain Cox, her husband Deleon Andrews, Sr., four brothers in-law, Billy Cuttino (Rosan) Andrews Jr., Charles (Clyde) Andrews, Foster Andrews, and John (Marlene) Andrews Sr.; five sisters-in-laws, Mary “Tay” (Jethro) Bailey, Minda (George) Sr. Hunter, Clarice Andrews, Eunice Andrews, Evelyn (Jack) Woodberry; and one grandchild, Clayton Myers.
Those left to cherish the precious memories of Anne Dora Cox Andrews are two loving daughters, Diane (Samuel) Myers of Florence, SC, and Gail Kathy Andrews of Myrtle Beach, SC who cared for her mother until the end; two wonderful sons, DeLeon (Sarah) Andrews, Jr. of Columbia, SC, and Theodore (Robbin) Andrews of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Clayton Myers (deceased), Nichole (Osbbie) Scipio, Amber (Jordan) Thomas, and Aiden Andrews; and three great-grandchildren whom she adored, Ashton and Camden Scipio, Melody Faye Thomas and a loving goddaughter, Glenda Hyman.
Anne Dora also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Lizzie Grant of Pamplico, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones.
