92, of Bruceton Mills (Pisgah community) WV, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at her home,
The daughter of the late Steve and Stella Amie, she was born July 23, 1933, in Pisgah, WV.
She spent her entire life on the same farm. She never wanted to travel because, “There’s no place prettier than this old farm.”
Anna, “Cupy”, was a wonderful cook and baker still using her old wood cook stove through last winter.
She enjoyed reading, raising flowers, and had a unique talent for raising cacti. She left behind a host of them, including one that is at least 60 years old. She loved animals and always had at least one pet cat.
She is survived by one son, James (Diana) Burris of St. George, WV and a daughter, Susan (Tracy) Waugh of Pisgah; three grandchildren: James (Mei) Burris, Lisa (Jay) Dumire and Abigail Waugh; three great-grand-children: Cody, Sara and Makai; one great-great grandson, Jackson and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James Burris; two sons, Jackie and Danny “Tucker” Burris; two brothers, Troy and Elmer Amie; and a sister, Ruby Simpkins and her husband, Frank, and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
The family wants to express great gratitude for Amedysis Hospice Staff and Senior Citizen Aide, Kathy Young for their kindness and care of Anna over the last year.
Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. service with Pastor Lynda Masters officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Bruceton Mills, (Pisgah) WV.
