Taft - Anna Maria Castillo passed away peacefully on December 6, 2023 after battling a lengthy illness. She was 65 years old. Anna was born in Taft, Texas on December 19, 1957 to Elvira and Reyes Maldonado. Anna was a devoted, mother, friend, and employer. She was a true light in everyone’s lives that she surrounded. Anna was remarkably selfless, kind, genuine, and an incredibly hard worker. She worked at Shoreline for 17 years and did so with the utmost positive attitude. Beyond that, Anna adored her siblings, children, grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. It is because of her love and affection of everyone who was in her life, that she was able to leave behind a legacy which will never be forgotten. She had a big heart and kind soul which made her entirely unique. Anna was a loving daughter, compassionate sister, admirable niece, and a one-of-a kind friend who will deeply be missed by all of those who were in her life.
Preceding her death are her parents: Elvira and Reyes Maldonado and her brothers Reyito and Reynaldo Maldonado. Survivors include her husband; Reynaldo M. Castillo from Taft; Son: Joe A. Castillo (Julia) from Gregory; Daughters: Jo Ann Solis (Joe) from Portland; Julie Ann Castillo (Richard), Jessica Ann Castillo (Jessie) from Taft; and Jennifer Ann Gutierrez (Louis) from Portland; Brother: Rumaldo Maldonado from Uvalde, Texas; Sisters: Odilia Castillo (Late Mateo) and Diana Castro (Gilbert) from Taft. Other survivors include her 20 grandchildren as well as her 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation will begin Monday, December 11, 2023, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Winsteads' Funeral Home, Portland, Texas. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be the same evening at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gregory, Texas. Burial will follow in Lamas Cemetery, Taft, Texas.
