Anna G. Garner (90), beloved resident of Emida, Idaho, passed peacefully into eternity on February 23, 2026, at Gritman Medical Center. She was born on May 21, 1935, in
Boise, Idaho, to Charles and Anna Eytchison.
Anna was raised in Boise and attended Boise High School. Just months before graduation, her father became ill, and the family lovingly relocated to California to care for him - a reflection of the deep family devotion that would define Anna's entire life.
While living in California, Anna met Robert Luddy. The couple married and began their life together, moving to New Mexico during Robert's military service. His assignments took him as far as Greenland and Iceland before he was honorably discharged and the family returned to California. Though their marriage later ended in divorce, they remained friends - a quiet testament to Anna's gracious heart.
Anna eventually returned to Boise, where she worked as a CNA and caregiver in local nursing homes. Caring for others was not just a job for Anna - it was part of who she was. In 1962, she met George Humphrey, and they married the following year. This season of life allowed Anna to focus on her children and home, something she cherished deeply. After George's untimely passing in 1970, Anna once again demonstrated remarkable resilience, returning to work cleaning homes and providing in-home healthcare to support her family.
Love found her again when she married Bob Garner. The two shared more than 20 years together before tragedy struck when Bob lost his life in a house fire while they were living in Caldwell, Idaho. Through unimaginable loss, Anna quietly showed her strength - putting one foot in front of the other and continuing forward with grace. She lovingly cared for her daughter Jody during illness and continued working well into her seventies, retiring in 2012. In 2022, she moved from Boise to Emida to be closer to her daughter Julie.
Anna lived simply but creatively. She had gifted hands and a patient spirit. She loved crocheting and beadwork, crafting beautiful bracelets, necklaces, and earrings - many of which Julie proudly sold at local craft shows. She was an avid reader who enjoyed every genre she could get her hands on, and she delighted in collecting elephants and frogs, each piece holding its own little story.
Anna is survived by her daughter, Julie (Rick) Main; her son, Joe (Carolyn) Humphrey; her brother, Charlie (Elsa) Eytchison; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews who will carry her memory forward.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Luddy, George Humphrey, and Robert Garner; her daughter, Jody Bauer-Peck; her infant son, David Luddy; her siblings, Charlotte Bourhenne and Ralph Eytchison; and her great-grandchild, Joseph Schwark.
At this time, no services are planned. Anna's family invites you to visit her online tribute at hodgefuneralhome.com to share condolences and memories.
