ANNA GROOVER Obituary
ANNA GROOVER
Anna Belle Groover, born on the 4th of October, 1940, in Morgantown, KY, was a beacon of love, creativity, and support to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Anna married Robert Groover on December 20, 1975, and they spent 21 years together until his passing in 1996. She spent her life in the pursuit of nurturing and caring for others, a mission that served as the foundation for her role as a loving homemaker. Anna was widely recognized for her cooking skills, her fascination with sewing and patch quilting, and her deep devotion to her faith, transitioning from Baptist as a child to Pentecostal in her later years. She found joy in simple things like laundry, reading the newspaper, and studying her Bible. Anna's presence was a blessing, radiating warmth and love, her smile lighting up any room she walked into.
In the course of her life, Anna was a pillar of strength and light for her family. She was the beloved mother to Debbie McCormick, Wanda Abbott, Anna Michael, Ralph House, Gary Foor, Charles (Althea) Groover, Brenda Alfrey, Debbie Smith, Loretta Thompson, Christy Souders, and the cherished grandmother to an impressive clan of 43 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. Anna's supportive nature and thoughtful spirit will be profoundly missed by her family, including her numerous nieces and nephews, but her legacy of love will live on in their hearts.
Anna was preceded in passing by her parents, Willis and Margaret Phelps, her children Betty Groover, Neil Foor, Tammy Foor, Jerry Foor, Emily Faye, Missy Taylor, Paul Groover, her siblings Betty Burden, James Phelps, Bertha Willingham, Junior Phelps and Wilma Abernathy, son-in-laws, Gary Smith, Randy Abbott, Johnny Smith, Tom Harris, and Aaron Alfrey, and three great-grandchildren. Despite these losses, Anna maintained her loving spirit and continued to be a source of comfort and guidance for her family.
Visitation will be held for Anna Groover on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at Dunnichay Funeral Home, located at 1113 South Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana. The Funeral service will be on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 12:00 PM at the same location. Burial will follow at the Elwood City Cemetery.
