Anna Mary Hesse

11/09/1927-11/18/2025

Anna Mary Hesse, a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, was called home on November 18, 2025, at the age of 98 in her home in Magnolia, TX. She passed peacefully, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of warmth, generosity, and unwavering love.

Anna was born on November 9, 1927, in East St. Louis, Illinois, to Flora and Jose Garcia. A proud first-generation Spanish-American, she celebrated her parents' heritage from Asturias, Spain, throughout her life.

In 1947, Anna married the love of her life, Robert Louis Hesse Sr. The two shared 53 years of marriage before his passing in 2001. Together they raised two sons, Robert Louis Hesse Jr. and Curtis Eugene Hesse, and carried with them the tender memory of their daughter, Robin Leigh Hesse. Though Curtis passed in 2001, Anna carried her children in her heart every day.

Family was the center of Anna's world. She adored her grandchildren, Nicholas George Hesse and Megan McKinley Hesse, who brought her tremendous joy. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her stories-especially when shared over a glass of wine-were endless.

Anna loved traveling, celebrating every Halloween with her family, welcoming trick-or-treaters, and never missed an opportunity to send a birthday card or a thoughtful note. She had a special fondness for blue point crab, from her time living in Baltimore, and always made it known that nothing in Texas quite compared.

Above all, Anna found her deepest fulfillment in serving her church. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her church community in countless meaningful ways. Though she volunteered with His Helpers for many years, it was her service and devotion to St. Peter's Anglican Church that she treasured most. She also cherished her time working at the Pineapple House in Albany, Georgia, and visiting local markets. Entertaining family and friends was one of her greatest joys and she had a gift for making everyone feel loved and welcomed.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Flora Garcia; her husband, Robert Louis Hesse Sr.; her children, Robin Leigh and Curtis Eugene; her siblings, Ted (Doris), Manuel (Betty), Joseph (Barbara), Louis (Eleanor), and Olga Davis; her in-laws Harold Bedwell, Charles and Helen Hesse; and her nephews Tim Hesse and David Bedwell.

She is survived by her son Robert (Sandra); her grandchildren, Nick (Rachel) and Megan; her sister Geraldine Bedwell; her brother-in-law Henry; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Anna will be remembered for her kindness, her humor, her devotion to her family, and her generous spirit. Her presence was a blessing, and her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.

The service will be Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 3:00 PM at St. Peter's Anglican Church (19915 Cypress Church Road, Cypress, TX 77433). Reception to follow.
